radio automation software from BSI

WaveCart

On Screen Cart Machine

WaveCart is used by more than 3000 broadcast stations worldwide. This award-winning software program replaces radio station cart machines, providing you with lightning fast digital audio for just a fraction of the cost of other systems.

In addition to its radio applications, WaveCart can also be used to set up theater shows for later playback. The quick action buttons allow you to react instantly to the performance or sit back and relax if everything is on schedule.

WaveCart can give you true overlap segues, even on a single audio card. With our recommended Audio Cards, you can even send different decks to different channels on your mixing board.

In addition to the 10 on-screen decks, there are an additional 12 "hidden" decks for instant playback of your news beds, emergency announcements, Legal IDs, etc. using 'HotKeys' WaveCart runs on any audio-equipped PC. There are no proprietary "black boxes", sound cards, hard drives or file formats with WaveCart. You can buy a PC at the local computer store and configure it for multimedia use or purchase a pre-configured system from us.

Since WaveCart uses Microsoft Windows standard audio files (WAV, MP2, MP3, ADPCM, TMC, or BWF), it is compatible with any other fully Windows compliant audio software.

WaveCart can be controlled with your computer mouse, your keyboard or even the start button on your audio console using an optional trigger interface. WaveCart has programmable "triggers" to take commands from your satellite or automation system. WaveCart is also fully compatible with touch-screen monitors, giving you unparalleled versatility in digital audio playback.

WaveCart is equipped with our internal audio file labeling technology. You can insert information right into the audio file. No outside databases to get scrambled. If you transfer the file from one PC to another... or even to another station via email... the label information goes right with it.

WaveCart you'll never have to bulk another tape cart again. Record spots, liners, sound effects and jingles onto your PC hard drive with CD fidelity. Your file plays back immediately and is always crystal clear. BSI's exclusive Rapid Fire® technology means that your audio startup is near instant. WaveCart can even rotate your spots randomly.

WaveCart is powerful and easy-to-use. Download the real software (not just a demo version) and try it out.

You can start using WaveCart within minutes of installation... no training needed. That's because WaveCart looks like what it is... a classic broadcast cart machine. You have 10 decks on screen at one time. Each deck displays a cart label showing you important information about the cart or cut. Starting decks in WaveCart is as easy as pressing the spacebar or ENTER key... or you can press any of the number keys... or you can use a console push button... or wire it to your satellite receiver for basic automation... or just click on the #008080 start button. We could go on, but the point is, operating WaveCart is easy. And to STOP... just click the STOP button, press "H" for Halt, press the ESCAPE key, press the DELETE key or push a button on your console.

WaveCart makes last-second changes easy. On the right of the WaveCart main screen is the quick-access file list. Just drag a file from the list onto a WaveCart deck on your audio is playing in less than a second. Whew, you got that in there just in time. The file list can be customized to show audio files, carts or preprogrammed "stacks."

WaveCart helps you check things out. WaveCart has a built-in "audition" deck that you can use to preview cuts before you put them on the air or send them to the onstage speakers. WaveCart can help you keep from playing out-of-date spots and PSA's using the new SmartCart function. The item will flash red to let the DJ know there's a problem. Plus, along the bottom of the WaveCart main screen are the quick action buttons to set auto-cues, halt operation, clear all decks or clear all cues. The Step & Loop options provide absolute control of audio file behavior during playback.

What to Avoid
Our extensive experience in building and configuring PCs enables us to guarantee a trouble free system. If you choose to source your own hardware, we suggest that you avoid the following that have shown to cause problems in the past:

  • On-board audio - Avoid those that you cannot turn of in the BIOS. These can conflict with other audio cards and devices.
  • Voice modems - Voice modems often can't be turned off. Get a regular, non-voice modem if you need one on the machine. External modems are usually great!
  • Consumer grade audio cards - virtually none have proper metering, many are not fully Windows Wave Compliant (ie may only work with WDM or ASIO) and some can screw up other aspects of your system and other cards that are installed. They are not meant for totally reliable continuous 24/7 playback.
  • Cheap network cards - Look for a branded one that supports Gigabit transfer
